In the last few weeks I have officially launched my latest report Powerful Press Releases. To be able to demonstrate to readers just how effective online press releases are as a backlinking strategy, this week I decided to put a press release into action. Below is the result after 2 days:
In case it is difficult to read, the press release returned 210,000 results – and there are 3 links to my sales page in the release – you do the backlink math. I have seen some very dramatic results from my press releases, and normally 2000-5000 results returned is a great outcome. That the topic is an in-demand one always improves the stats, but this result saw me happy-dancing around the room.
Just as I am writing this, I decided to see what the results are, 24 hours later. Knowledge of Google’s moodiness steeled me for a dramatic drop, but instead:
This release cost me 20 minutes in time, and zero in cash outlay – I placed it with one of the free services. I don’t expect much in the way of traditional press coverage, not even pickup by Yahoo! or Google News – these will come when I write a release and distribute it using one of the premium paid services.
So, what do you think- how many articles, rewritten, outsourced, spun and butchered will it take you to get results like this?
Press releases are powerful for SEO, which is why I compiled my Powerful Press Releases report. Every internet marketer should have them as an integral component to their overall SEO strategy.

Great info there Kerry and congratulations – this is awesome and thanks for letting know the value of press releases – you know I think just the name press release scares people but maybe reading your post will get them to reconsider.

I hope so Nancy, they are too valuable to ignore, and not difficult to prepare and distribute. Of course, I can do the whole shebang for my clients as well- as long as they don’t expect this result each time!

Great post Kerry 🙂 I never really knew that press releases were such a great backlinking strategy. I’m going to take what you’ve given me here and try to apply it as best as I can… after taking a look at the rest of your website first, of course!
Tyler
That is so amazing! I’m literally stunned by your results… I can’t wait to get into this myself.
Kerry
Tyler,
Don’t expect such results from all press releases – the current popularity of the topic makes a big difference. Doubt the same results would have been achieved for, say, “New Carpet Cleaning Product Launched”!
Paul
Do you think press releases are a good way to start for someone just getting into backlinking? Not sure if it’s best for me…
Kerry
I absolutely think so! Why would you not – do you have anything to lose by trying. Give it a try, measure the results and decide for yourself.
Mark
Congratulations! Those are some really awesome results. Hopefully I can work my way up there 😉

Way to go… only 24 hours and 20 minutes of work. That’s very impressive, Kerry! Keep up the good work.
