As a service provider to online businesses, it can be a challenge to operate in the same air space as companies who are often faceless and nameless, and who deliver bulk packages at too-good-to-be-true prices. You’ll notice that I wrote ‘operate in’ rather than ‘compete in’, and that simple distinction probably reflects how I view my business.
You see, I learned long ago not to attempt to compete with services that take what others less generous have described as a ‘battery hen’ approach to content creation. That there is a place for these services is beyond dispute, and this is made obvious by their proliferation.
Nor do I wish to present myself, or my team, as ‘journalists’. Although we certainly can, we are not in the business of spending weeks researching material that will form the basis for an in-depth, magazine style feature article. While I do this for my own business, and have done for several clients in the past, it is not what I consider my ‘core business’.
So, how do I describe what we do to a new potential client?
Well, because I’ve needed to do this twice in the last week, I thought it would be timely, at the beginning of a new and exciting year, to clarify this in a post. So…..
Quality Content, at an Affordable Price
I guess this heading pretty much sums it up. Since I started this business 7 years ago, I have carved out a unique position in the world of content writing. I have trained and mentored a small team of writers who, with me, are very much aware of the role we play in the success of my clients’ businesses.
Like me, they are not all journalists (though several are!) – but they know how to write, and many of them are niche-specialists – lawyers, engineers, mothers, animal lovers, scientists, environmentalists, and digital marketers. I proudly display their photos and their backgrounds here under Team.
They are skilled, and they are rewarded with remuneration that acknowledges their skills, AND their attention to detail, AND the pride they exhibit in every piece of content they deliver.
But that’s not to say that my prices are beyond the reach of everyday businesses. Most new clients are surprised by the amount of quality original content I can provide to them as a ‘starter pack’ for less a few hundred dollars each month. It is often the case that clients initially order a small package, and build on it once they see how valuable it is – for engaging their website visitors, growing their online footprint for key terms, and positioning them as ‘authorities’ within their niches.
Injection of Offline and Online Marketing Expertise
Because I am tertiary qualified in marketing, and have held positions in marketing management in ‘the real world’, I incorporate this marketing/PR knowledge in the content strategies I suggest to my clients, including leveraging content for social media.
Of course, should a detailed content marketing strategy be required, I can do this as well!
While I keep abreast of changes in the world of online business, including best practices for SEO, the content that my team and I create is not affected by the changing digital environment. It is always original, well researched and relevant – and you simply cannot go wrong with that!
Perhaps the biggest point of difference with Kerry Finch Writing is that I take an interest in your business. I want to know about you, what you do, how you do it, and what your objectives are. I like to be aware of your competitors, who are the authorities in your niche, and who, if applicable, your governing/licensing bodies are.
