I’m really pleased to learn that both my developer and my senior writer, and their families, are all safe in the Philippines. To bring a human element to the news devastation, I’m sharing here some of their experiences.
Christine has focused on ensuring that her children are safe – not just from the storms, but from the often graphic media reports of devastation and loss of life. She remained awake and kept watch over them during the storm. Although shaken, she is ready to evacuate if necessary, and is grateful for the international support that is now pouring in.
She has spent the last few days helping in relief efforts through her church organization.
JC is also a mother of young children, and is safe. She has family members in nearby cities whose homes have sustained damage, but none are seriously injured. Communication was down for two days, but her mobile internet has been a helpful, if intermittent, way of keeping in touch.
For those who are able, you may like to support the Philippine Red Cross or the UN World Food Program in their endeavours to help those in need in the Philippines.
I particularly like this very 21st century way of the way they are being helped by technology to identify where they are most needed. http://goo.gl/il552I
